Common Questions

Questions people usually have when reaching out.

Do you work on Mac and Windows?

Yes — Mac and Windows, across phones, computers, and tablets. I don't currently support Linux devices.

Can you handle hardware repairs?

Simple upgrades, yes — memory and storage upgrades are well within what I handle directly. For keyboard replacements, I work with a trusted repair partner. I don't take on more invasive repairs like display or screen replacements.

How does remote support work? Is it secure?

For remote sessions, you can see everything happening on your screen in real time, and nothing gets permanently installed on your device. The connection ends the moment the session's over, and there's nothing left running afterward.

How does the "pay what you choose" pricing work?

For simple, single-issue remote fixes, you decide what the help was worth to you, with a $30 minimum. Tech problems are hard to price before anyone knows what's actually wrong, so this way you're never overpaying for something that turned out simple — and if it turns out to be bigger than expected, I'll always pause and give you a flat quote before continuing rather than let the meter run.

What happens when something can't be resolved?

Not every issue can be fully resolved — sometimes it's a hardware failure, a manufacturer limitation, or something outside what a repair can undo. If that happens, I'll tell you plainly rather than charge for a fix that isn't real.

Will you see my personal details or data?

Only what's necessary to diagnose and fix the specific issue you've asked about. I don't go looking through unrelated files. I'd still recommend backing up anything irreplaceable before any service, just as good practice.

How quickly will I hear back?

Same-day response for most requests — see the "How it works" section above for the full process.

About

I manage IT as a career. I help you on the side.

By day, I run IT for a company you'd probably recognize. By night and weekend, I fix the stuff that regular IT support either overcharges for or doesn't want to bother with — a slow laptop, a shop's flaky Wi-Fi, a cybersecurity hygiene check-up.

No call centers, no scripts, no upselling you on things you don't need. Just someone who actually knows this stuff, explaining it like a person.
